Circles.Life has just announced a new S$0/month no-contract plan. Yes that's right, its new Flexi Plan is completely free, with no hidden charges.

The plan includes 1GB data/month, 30 minutes talktime, 10 SMSes, and free caller ID. You can also top up extra data at 1GB for S$8, or 2GB for $12, while extra talk time is charged at S$5/30 minutes.

NOTE:
You need to buy something(>$8) once every three months to continue to get their monthly freebies.

UDAPTE 2:
But the telco clarified later on Tuesday that consumers may also keep their line as long as they use it as a primary number at least once every three months - including receiving one-time passwords for online banking and shopping.

This seems like the strategy by Jio in Indian Market. Either way, it's a big win for us consumers!

    Looks pretty good.

Could you.. have multiple of these plans?

You need to buy something(>$8) once every three months to continue to get their monthly freebies.

"Monthly freebies" refers to the data, talktime and SMSes?

So this would make it $8/3 months (or effectively $2.66/mth), assuming there's something $8 you can buy.

This also makes the "What's the catch? Nothing!" part look like a lie.

I think there is one at $5 for 30 min talktime. You can see if you scroll to the bottom of OPs link.

Had a chat with their support. Two important points:

      • No need to buy a top up after you receive the card. You can top up anytime if you want to. Within 3 months is our recommendation otherwise number itself may be discontinued.

      • No billing cycle for the flexi plan since you will not receive any bill from us. Your plan will refresh every 1st day of the month. Just make sure to do the top up once in a while to avoid line suspension as we reserve the right to suspend customers who under utilize the plan.

$5 is still less than $8 though? Or I guess you could buy 2 lots of them.

What would the top up be for? Just to keep it active and meet the required $8+ spend in 3 months?

Actually what I meant was you can buy any top up. Its value need not be >=8. So you can even buy this $5 top up once every three months and you would be fine. This was before the OP update and their FB page comments. Refer to my answer for next question.

Due to earlier confusing information, it appeared that consumers were recommended to do at least one top up (out of the possible three, no specific value requirement) once every three months to keep the number/service active.
However, after reading the comments from their support reps on their FB page, it is clear that you need not do any top up as long as you are using that number for some activity regularly.
Those activities include but not limited to:
          * Receiving an OTP or sending an SMS OR
          * Consuming any amount of data OR
          * Doing any one of the three boost top ups such as add data/calling mentioned above.

TL;DR: There is no need to pay any money every three months. As long as you use the number for some activity, your number/service/freebies stay active
